How Do You Sleep At Night

2023

A nocturne for the despairing adult.

Lullabies have been a privilege of children for centuries. What rocks you to sleep? What keeps you awake? Music theatre collective Les Âmes Perdues sings of sleep and sleeplessness in a turbulent trip through sweet, wet, feverish dreams.

awake from the past and anger and urge

With soft three-part harmonies, hypnotic accordion sounds, and the shimmering deep tones of the cello, they create a world like a derailed music box in How Do You Sleep at Night. Musical melatonin, decaffeinated caffeine, benzodiazepine.

bitten the teeth into dust

Les Âmes Perdues wades through the night with idiosyncratic interpretations of berceuses and lullabies. A sound bath of earworms, rain on a roof of undulating slabs, and dark late-night broadcasts. Lost words on a bed of synthesizer clouds. Let yourself be rocked in Morpheus' arms; slumber, convulse, doze, immerse…

then the light makes the room empty
