Les Âmes Perdues

Les Âmes Perdues saw the light of day in 2017 as an idiosyncratic ode to the cabaret of the interwar period. Muziektheater Transparant took the collective under its wing as resident artist. After their debut, they flanked deRoovers in Friedrich Dürrenmatt's *Het Bezoek* and created intoxicating adaptations of Heiner Müller's *Quartett* with Wouter Van Looy. In 2020-2021, they presented *Eurovisionary*, a subversive hymn inspired by 65 years of the Eurovision Song Contest, and created *How Do You Sleep at Night*, a late-capitalist trip through the world of melatonin. As part of *Een Nyeu Liedeken*, a city festival about Antwerp folk songs curated by Teletext, they created *Fortuyne wat hebdy ghebrouwen*: a playful musical performance featuring their own adaptations of songs from the 16th-century Antwerp Songbook, with which they won over many a boomer heart at *Laus Polyphoniae* and Museumnacht. In the summer of 2023, together with Tom Goossens, Mitch Vanlandeghem, and Transparant, they created the mischievous Fledermaus Forever, a colorful feast in a comedic straitjacket, a wink at and a pastiche of the operetta genre. An eight-person cast dresses Johann Strauss's masterpiece operetta Die Fledermaus in and out, posing the question of why we continue to perform repertoire ad nauseam. After the premiere at Zomer van Antwerpen, the production made a well-received run at O. Festival and Theater Aan Zee, followed by a Grand Tour through Flanders. In 2024, Les Âmes Perdues celebrated the hypothetical 125th anniversary of favorite composer Francis 'Poupoule' Poulenc throughout the year with Hip Hip Poulenc. In a series of musical salons, they highlighted a different aspect of his life and work each time. For this, they collaborated with local and befriended artists and parishes, De Studio, and the winter festival Blik Bang Boom. Killer Thriller is coming in summer 2026 – lean back and enjoy until the coroner comes.

Les Âmes Perdues consists of Naomi Beeldens, Ewout Lehoucq, and Isaak Duerinck.
